7 Events to Get You in the Mood for Love This Qixi
advertisement
There is an event for everyone this Qixi (AKA Chinese Valentine's Day) on Wednesday, Aug 7.
Celebrating two Valentine's Days per year might be hard to stomach for
some but for others, it can make for the perfect occasion for a
declaration of love (or a chance to get yourself out of the doghouse for
missing Valentine's Day back in February). Since Qixi falls on the
seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar, we have picked
out seven of the best events happening around the city. Alternatively,
check out all of this year's Qixi events here:
Head
to Centro for drinks on Qixi for a chance to win a one night stay in
their Club Room or "fly" home with a pair of floral wings made out of
exquisite fresh flowers sponsored by Waa Flora. Ladies also get to enjoy
unlimited pours of house wine and beer from 7-9pm or you can purchase
packages such as one Love Potion cocktail and a bunch of flowers for RMB
179.
Celebrate
Qixi at Feast and impress your special someone with an extravagant
semi-buffet surf and turf feast for RMB 888 per couple, including
free-flow soft drinks, beer, and house wine. Choose from main courses to
share like Feast's ultimate surf and turf platter, featuring grilled
fillet and sirloin, garlic and herb-crusted lobster, fresh oysters, and
baked mac and cheese. They'll also have a live band on hand to stoke the
romance.

What
says "I love you" more than a big plate of meat? Home Plate is here to
hook you up in that regard with a special Qixi set menu. They're serving
up wings, a double down platter (which comes with a choice of two meats
like pulled pork, brisket or barbecue rib tips), two glasses of wine,
and a dessert for just RMB 266.
Migas
Mercado boasts one of the city's best views, making for a great
backdrop for romantic occasions. For Qixi, they have prepared an
eight-course menu (RMB 1,288 per couple) of modern Spanish dishes like
wagyu beef tartare served over Catalan-style flatbread and Iberico ham
croquettes.
If
you really want to go all out to impress for Qixi then Opera Bombana
has you covered with their RMB 1,888 per person set menu. The menu
features plenty of suitably luxurious ingredients like the Normandy
lobster, foie gras, and Australian wagyu beef. They also have the option
to add a wine pairing for RMB 588 for three wines or RMB 888 for five
wines.
Enjoy
a selection of romantic dishes at San Wu Tang (RMB 577 per couple),
including smoked salmon with caviar, pan-fried beef tenderloin wrapped
in bacon with prawns, and a heart-shaped cake. Guests will also get a
bottle of rosé sparkling wine and access to San Wu Tang's extensive
lunch or dinner buffet.
Treat
that special someone to a 12-course menu (RMB 1,314) of summery Chinese
